AUSTIN -- A grass fire in Burnet County forced a neighborhood to evacuate this afternoon.
Firefighters on scene say it started around 12:30pm along Quarter Horse Circle, just east of Kingsland. Investigators say a landowner was doing a controlled burn that got out of control. The Hoover Valley Volunteer Fire Chief says people should be cautious in these conditions.
"Have plenty of water around you, keep your area clean and basically notify Burnet SO whenever you do a control burn," said Chief Steven Snyder.
The chief says several other volunteer fire departments came to help, as well as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
