AUSTIN -- The victim killed in Saturday morning's Kansas City shooting, Kasandra Perkins, attended high school in Austin.
Kasandra Perkins spent a lot of her childhood in the Dallas area but graduated from Anderson High School in Austin.
Perkins is the cousin of former Longhorn football player Jamal Charles' wife. Charles' is a player for the Kansas City Chiefs, the same team Belcher played for.
The 22-year-old moved to Kansas City to be with boyfriend Jovan Belcher.
The two had their first child together, a little baby girl named Zoey, this September.
On Perkins' Facebook page, she has pictures of the three of them celebrating Thanksgiving as a family.
Reports from friends of the couple say the two may have had issues and an argument as recent as Friday night over Perkins coming home late from a concert.
"We heard that they had been arguing in the past. As far as recently, they had been arguing before the shooting occurred this morning," Kansas City police officer Darrin Snapp said.
All day the incident has been making national headlines. Friends and family members are posting pictures and condolences on numerous social websites online.
Perkins' family gathered at her former home Saturday night in far East Austin. They are asking for privacy.
Perkins graduated from Anderson High in 2009.
