KAGOSHIMA CITY, Japan -- Clouds of ash are covering parts of Japan after a volcano eruption.
Mount Sakura-Jima erupted Sunday afternoon. People in one nearby city used umbrellas to shield themselves from the ash.
Drivers had to use their headlights during the day. They said driving through the ash was like driving through a snow storm at night.
People in the area are used to this sort of thing as this volcano is one of the most active in Japan.
