AUSTIN -- Lawmakers recognized some important visitors in Austin Tuesday at the Texas Capitol.
Twenty-six ambassadors from 26 countries are in Austin as part of the "Experience America" program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
The ambassadors chose Austin because of its booming technology industry. The hope is that this visit will attract business and talent from these countries to come to Austin for work.
"There is a natural synergy between the way you're developing your economy here and the way we are developing the economy in Ireland. We are hugely interested in Austin and it's very important that I should be part of this visit to experience it myself," said Michael Collins, ambassador of Ireland to U.S.
The ambassadors enjoyed a special luncheon at Austin's historic Driskill Hotel. Many told KVUE News they were eager about the benefits of doing business here.
