People are playing pianos around downtown Austin -- at Pfluger Bridge, Butler Park, and at Auditorium Shores.
Many of these pianos are decorated in unique ways by music lovers. It is all part of an international art exhibit called "Play Me, I'm Yours."
Unlike other art exhibits, this one is truly interactive. Anyone is welcome to sit down and tickle the ivories.
That is exactly what composer Jonathan Montemayor did.
"I've been out kayaking; I've seen 'em. I've seen people playing 'em, and I thought somebody, you know, just brought their keyboard out, 'cause it's such a nice setting," he said.
Travis Robinett is a lifeguard. He also spotted the piano on Pfluger Bridge and thoroughly enjoyed playing it.
"It's awesome. It's really great. I mean, I've never seen anything like it in any other city, and Austin is just so musical, and there's so many talented musicians here," said Robinett.
Those who do not play piano are just as thrilled. Abby Nagler celebrated her birthday Thursday with a picnic at Butler Park, and for her, the piano music was icing on the cake.
"Definitely helps the picnic with the music in the background...I think it's really special just that they're doing something so just out of the box and creative," she said.
City of Austin park ranger Jim Stewart says it is what makes Austin unique and life wonderful.
“I mean, this is exactly one of the things that makes it cool, and just to have the opportunity to just enjoy, and the randomness of it is really cool," said Stewart.
The pianos have attracted everyone from composers, to lifeguards, and even meteorologists.
The 14 pianos will be in downtown Austin until May 1 and are being hosted by Art Alliance Austin.
