IKEA goes green, brings electric vehicle stations to Texas markets

If you drive an electric vehicle, you'll soon be able to power it up during a trip to IKEA.

The Swedish furniture-maker is expanding its blink electric vehicle charging stations to several new markets, including in Texas at its Frisco and Houston stores. You should be able to find the stations at the stores by the end of the summer.

IKEA's been making a big push to go green. It's already installed solar panels on top of nearly all its U.S. locations. 

 

The Supreme Court's decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act this week could mean legal challenges ahead in Texas.

Texas has a very similar law of its own, which was signed by Governor Perry in 2003. Since the high court's ruling only affected states where same-sex marriage is legal, that takes Texas and 36 states off of the table. But that may soon change. A Dallas lawyer tells Biz Journals this week's ruling likely means restrictions in Texas will be challenged in court.

When it comes to Texas, graphic artist Steve Lovelace thinks Dr. Pepper is the company that best represents your state based on its roots there, and the fact that it's still a thriving business.
