So brief an article for such a good guy who's been a positive influence on so many people. The write-up doesn't mention his connections with Mission: Possible! or Loaves and Fishes, or that his family's home burned down a few years ago and he was right there helping the homeless in Austin the very next day. In my experience, Duane always had a smile, a hug, and kind words for everyone he met, and he was always willing to lend a strong shoulder or a listening ear. I'd call Duane a true modern-day hero. Brother Duane, as many knew him, moved on from Church Under the Bridge last September, but CUB is a Mission: Possible! ministry, and it still meets under the bridge at 7th Street with the guidance of Tim Pinson, Jr. Duane will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered. If you pray, please pray for his wife and children; I believe he and his wife were expecting another baby soon, too.

Brother Duane always made it clear that he did not desire to be called a pastor, but rather a brother. The one thing I learned from him more than any other, is Christ-like humility. I've seen people get in his face and threaten him, and he would not budge, not even to raise an eyebrow, but rather with love in his eyes, instruct the person. Never have I seen a man, that carried more of the atributes of Christ, than Duane. He is a true example for the so-called church of America. He never asked for money, but always gave freely, all that he posessed. He did not seek out popularity, as most preachers do. Brother Duane preached on the streets of Austin with guitar and bible in hand, and relied soley on the Lord for provision. Please keep his wife and children in your prayers, they are expecting their 4th child next month.

I do not believe that this is the appropriate place to advertise Mission Possible, it seems Mission Possible is doing a good job of advertising itself. Rather we should advertise Christ Jesus who Duane desired to walk closely with. In the later part of 2009, we took nearly a 4 hour trip with brother Duane, and he adheared closely to the speed limits. People were constantly passing us up. I by no means can see this to have happened as a result of him purposefully speeding. If there is anything that Duane wanted more anything, it was THE saving grace, that comes only through Jesus Christ of Nazareth. If you truly lay down your life, and not just part of it, He can save you from anything, including alcohol, drugs, sexual lusts, and every sin that causes men to commit high treason against THE Holy God. Our household was in tears and wailing at 6am this morning, which was quenched by a hope and a joy for our beloved brothers destination. Duane will be greatly missed.
