AUSTIN -- A $5,000.00 reward is being offered for information leading to the person or persons responsible for damaging eight cars at the Henna Chevrolet Dealership in north Austin.
Austin police tell KVUE News 12 vehicles were damaged by blunt objects, possibly baseball bats. Damage estimates total in the upwards of $10,000.
Henna Chevrolet is offering the reward for information that leads to an arrest in the damage to 12 vehicles.
The crime happened sometime between late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
Someone used bricks to bash the windows of cars and to put dents in others.
“What we've got right now is a total of eight cars with some form of damage. Obviously these two are the worst. We're guessing right now from best we can tell, prior to insurance taking a look probably 15-thousand dollars as we stand,” said Karl Kradjel, New Car Sales Director at Henna Chevrolet.
Surveillance cameras posted on property were not able to capture the crime in progress.
Henna employees say they have no idea what the motivation is for the crime but believe that more than one person is responsible.
“I've personally been here 13-years and have never seen anything quite like this so we're all scratching our heads ourselves just trying to figure it out,” added Kradjel.
Anyone with questions about the $5,000.00 reward and information are encouraged to call Austin police, email Dustin Lindig at email@example.com or call (512) 832-1888 ext. 479 or Austin CrimeStoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
