GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Residents headed to the polls Tuesday in Georgetown for a tax ratification election for the school district.

Voters were asked to approve an additional four cents for a total maintenance and operations tax rate of $1.08. The four-cent increase translates to $40 a year for a $100,000 home.

If approved, it would generate more than $2 million in additional revenue for the district.

It would not, however, increase the tax rate for citizens over 65 years old or disabled residents who have had their taxes frozen.
