NORTHWEST AUSTIN -- Family and friends gathered at the Hill Country Bible Church Sunday to remember 17-year-old Taylar Lesser and 18-year-old Nathaniel Gomez. The two Vista Ridge High School students died Jan. 10 in a fatal accident in Cedar Park.

More than 600 people attended the joint service, which included a photo slideshow of Lesser and Gomez and a poem read by a friend.

"It is that smile that led me to believe, her presence is with me even when I grieve," read Sara Thomas.

Taylar's grandfather Stuart Lesser also spoke.

"Please keep her and Nathaniel and their families in your thoughts and prayers," he said. "I know we will."

The two teens died after their car veered into concoming traffic on Parmer Lane near Glacier Pass Lane. Police are still working to determine why they crossed the median.

Vista Ridge teacher Toss Gonzalez addressed the victims' family.

"Taylar had a 100-watt smile, just naturally, but when she talked about you guys, it had an extra sparkle," Gonzalez said.

Lesser was a junior. Gomez would have graduated this year.
