LEANDER, Texas --  Cedar Park Police have shut down 183A from San Gabriel Parkway to Hero Way Sunday after a fuel spill. Police say at 6:13 a.m. an 18-wheeler carrying fuel rolled over on the highway.

The driver has been transported to the hospital in serious condition. Crews are conducting an extensive clean-up.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a single vehicle collision in the northbound lanes of 183A. Early investigation indicates that an 18-wheeler vehicle hauling fuel was heading northbound on 183A when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over. The driver was transported to St. David’s Medical Center Round Rock in serious condition.

All north and southbound lanes of 183A will be closed from San Gabriel Parkway to Hero Way
while crews conduct extensive clean‐up due to fuel spill. Road closures are anticipated to last
several hours.

"Keeping it from spreading into waterways is the biggest hazard," said Assistant Leander Fire Chief Stuart Heater.

All traffic for 183A between San Gabriel Parkway and Hero Way will be diverted to 183. East and westbound traffic on San Gabriel Parkway and Hero Way will not be impacted. 183A southbound lanes from San Gabriel Parkway to Hero Way are now open, officials say. Northbound lanes are still closed.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
