If you're downtown during SXSW and your I-phone starts running low, a former U.T. student's invention can help you out.
It's called the solar pump and it's a free, solar-powered charging station for electric bikes, scooters, cell phones and laptops.
It's creator, Beth Ferguson, says it's also meant to get you thinking.
"We've used kind of a fun combination of 1950's gas pumps with solar panels for people to really start questioning and seeing the humor and really start thinking about a new form of transporation and energy for the city," she said.
There are solar pump charging stations at 5th and Trinity, the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar and at Auditorium Shores. To use them, all you need is your charger.
