AUSTIN -- Patchy fog blanketed Central Texas Thursday morning. The fog rolled in overnight. Visibility dropped to less than .5 miles in parts of Metro Austin.

Experts say rain over the past 24 hours soaked the grounds and kept moisture in the atmosphere. Light winds Wednesday evening stirred the moisture and created the layers of fog.

Some of the heaviest fog sat over Central Austin and in cities to the immediate south and east, including San Marcos, Giddings and La Grange.

The fog is expected to clear and make way for clear skies by mid-morning.
