WIMBERLEY, Texas -- Investigators determined that there was no evidence of wrongdoing or criminal activity in the fire that burned down an Ace Hardware store in Wimberley.

Hays County Fire Marshal Mark Chambers said Tuesday that the exact cause of the fire will remain undetermined due to the extensive damage to the property caused by Friday's fire. The damage is estimated at $3 million.

The building has been released to the owner.

ATF agents out of Austin and San Antonio joined Hays County and Bexar County investigators to find the cause of the fire. Fifty firefighters from six different agencies responded to the fire that broke out at 9:30 Friday night.

The Ace Hardware store employs 34 full and part-time employees. It's the largest generator of sales tax revenue in Wimberley. The owner does plan to re-build the store.
