Fatal hit-and-run involving four cyclists

SAN ANTONIO -- Four cyclists were struck in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning. One person is dead and another is in serious condition.

Around 2:30 Saturday morning four cyclists were riding on Commerce street. A driver of a gray 2001 Hyundai struck all four at the intersection near South Pine from behind.

Jose Gamez, 44 was pronounced dead at the scene while a Rosalva Gamez, 42 was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.

The other two were treated at the scene.The vehicle was found at Hackberry at Aransas with damage consistent to the accident.

The suspect, a 25-year-old male, was found nearby on Olive Street passed out in someone's front yard, according to police.

He could face charges of intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and failure to stop and render aid.

He has not yet been magistrated.
