Police identify victim, suspect in Northwest Austin fatal stabbing

AUSTIN -- A man was fatally stabbed Tuesday night in Northwest Austin.

Police say it was the result of a violent disagreement between a couple that happened on Turtle Rock Road near Research Blvd. and Anderson Mill just before 8 p.m.

Police say 19-year-old Cory Burns and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Annette Valdez, got into a fight that resulted in Valdez stabbing Burns.

Police say the two had been arguing inside an apartment. Witnesses say the argument continued outside, where Burns was stabbed several times. When police arrived, they found Burns laying on the ground. Police officers and civilian witnesses attempted life saving measures, but were unable to save Burns. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Valdez was not injured. She has been arrested and has been charged with murder. She is currently being held in the Williamson County Jail on an $850,000 bond.
