AUSTIN -- Funeral services for an off-duty Austin police officer killed in an accident earlier this week were announced Thursday.
Austin Police Department Lieutenant Clay Crabb, 43, was killed after his car hydroplaned.
Crabb was on his way to work when a pickup truck T-boned his car around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The other driver was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated but is said to have no major injuries.
APD tells KVUE the service will be held at Bannockburn Baptist Church in South Austin. The church is located at 7100 Brodie Ln. near William Cannon. Services are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday.
The funeral will be open to the public.
APD says Crabb's death will be classified as "in the line of duty" since he was in uniform. A declaration made by Police Chief Art Acevedo qualifies Crabb's family for a quarter of a million dollars from the state, as well as federal benefits and free in-state college tuition for his children.
