AUSTIN -- Fans from all over the world arrived in Austin Thursday for Formula 1 weekend.

The flood of people showed no signs of letting up yet Thursday night. The crowds started coming in with the first planes landing at about 7:30 a.m. and since then, a steady stream of passengers have landed in the Capital City, all eager to watch the inaugural race at the Circuit of the Americas track and experience what Austin has to offer.

Plenty of limo and town car drivers were on hand to meet passengers, and at the tourist desk volunteers who speak English, Spanish, Arabic and more languages were ready to help guide tourists to their destinations.

A very familiar face to F1 fans was at the airport Thursday as well -- international racing legend Emerson Fittipaldi. The F1 and Indy 500 champion attracted quite a bit of attention from admirers. He says he can't wait to for this race to get underway.

Fittapaldi says he'll get the chance to take a run on the new track on Sunday.

In the meantime, while Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has been busy with commercial planes, there are plenty of private planes landing in Austin as well. Those will continue to come in throughout Thursday night. The last commercial flight to land will be around midnight.
