AUSTIN -- An elderly driver, charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of a cyclist, has been released from jail.

Cyclist Verter Ginestra was killed last spring along loop 360 when, police say, 86-year-old Maurice Widener sped around traffic onto the shoulder and hit Ginestra from behind.

A grand jury indicted Widener on Tuesday. He was booked on Thursday and bonded out hours later.
