EAST AUSTIN -- Austin firefighters have ruled an East Austin duplex fire to be electrical in nature, and accidental.
The fire started around 3:00 AM on Saturday in the unoccupied of the duplex. Firefighters say they arrived within three minutes of the call to find heavy smoke and fire, and were forced to retreat when the roof partially collapsed.
AFD officials tell us that $50,000 in damage was done to the structure, as well as $10,000 to contents in the duplex.
There was one resident in the structure at the time of the fire. He made it out safely and is now staying with family.
No one was injured.
