BASTROP COUNTY, Texas -- Some downed utility lines on Highway 71 at Highway 20 in Bastrop County are causing some traffic delays.
According to the Bastrop County dispatch supervisor, a construction crew hit a line and pulled down a utility pole, snapping it in half. On the pole are electric lines, fiber lines and cable lines.
Some have suggested cutting the lines and letting traffic go through, however the fiber lines are the main source for 911 service throughout the county.
Crews have opened eastbound lanes, but the westbound lanes may be closed until about 6 p.m. Monday.
