AUSTIN -- Students at Mendez Middle School got a big surprise thanks to Fidelity Investments.
The company donated $200,000 worth of new instruments to the music program. Fidelity invests in the arts at 200 schools across the country, impacting 30,000 students.
Wednesday's donation will allow younger students to participate in orchestra.
"Well there are a lot of kids I can't let into orchestra because they are too small. Because I don't have the right size and the instruments are expensive. So actually Fidelity Investments was able to allow more sixth graders to join orchestra because the instruments are the right size," Orchestra and Guitar Director of Mendez Middle School Jeffrey Hall said.
The $20,000 purchased 15 new instruments for the school.
