According to the Travis County attorney, drunk-driving charges filed against KLBJ AM radio host Jeff Ward have been dismissed.
Ward was stopped for speeding on 6th Street early last Friday morning. He refused a breath test.
Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo asked video of Ward's arrest and the officer's report to be reviewed. Based on an internal review by both the Austin Police Department and Travis County prosecutors, it was determined there was not sufficient evidence to support a DWI charge.
Ward issued the following statement Monday afternoon: "I have been respectful and patient throughout the process, knowing from the outset that I was not intoxicated. There was no reason to go forward with the case. I can only hope that my innocence is reported and discussed with the same enthusiasm as my arrest."
