ROUND ROCK -- Police in Round Rock say a crime spree through their town left two people seriously hurt.

Saturday around 1:30 p.m. officers were called to University Boulevard. A lady robber tried to steal a woman's purse. Police say the thief jumped into a getaway jeep with her boyfriend and the crooks ran over two people.

Officers arrested 36 year old Anthony Hutchins and 36 year old Jennifer Taylor.

"They were from the Odessa area, went through Marble Falls and ended up in Round Rock. Our belief right now is they were trying to support their drug habit," said Sgt. Darin Bayles with the Round Rock Police Department.

Bayles says the two were trying to get money to buy crack cocaine.

A man who tried to help the woman is in serious condition at Seton Hospital. Police say the jeep ran over and dragged him several feet. He is suffering injuries to his back, rib cage and lungs.

Hutchins is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Officers believe the couple stole a car from Burnet County.

Taylor is charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
