Council approves 24-hour trail pilot program

AUSTIN -- Austin City Council members approved a pilot program for 24-hour trails. But it still may not happen.
The vote Thursday changes city code to allow a trial period for Butler, Shoal Creek, and Johnson Creek trails to be open 24-7.
However, the program hinges on finding the money for police patrols and new lights in the existing budget which the city has yet to do.
