AUSTIN -- Jurors will soon hear closing arguments in the murder trial of a woman charged with killing Huston-Tillotson track star Fatima Barrie.

Kaitlyn Ritcherson is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Barrie's December 2011 death. Prosecutors say Ritcherson stabbed Barrie in the heart outside Republic Live, a club in downtown Austin.

On Wednesday Ritcherson's friend Britney Carson took the stand in her defense. She described the moments before the stabbing, saying Barrie hit Ritcherson in the head with a cell phone. Carson says Barrie threatened Ritcherson.

"She said, 'I’m not afraid of that knife. You are still going to get your [expletive] kicked,'" said Carson in court.

Carson also told jurors Ritcherson was scared.

"Her hand was trembling with the knife in it," said Carson.

Closing arguments will begin Thursday morning at 9 a.m. in the 331st District Courtroom in the Travis County Justice Complex.
