AUSTIN -- The City of Austin is one step closer to putting a new group in charge of Austin Energy.
Right now, council members oversee the city-owned utility. But a unanimous vote Monday night by Austin's Electric Utility Commission recommended establishing an independent board to do that job instead.
The council itself gets the final say.
