Tropical Storm Hermine unleashed its fury overnight at the Shady River RV Park in Williamson County.
“I think we are all kind of still in shock,” said Bill Buchel a resident at the RV park.
The San Gabriel River runs behind the RV park and overflowed its banks.
“The rain you could hear real intense,” said Steve Ramos. “The roaring of the river was strong and that woke us up.”
Blake Stanaland lives across the street and says the water rose fast and furious.
“This RV park was completely underwater. It was 10 to 12 feet high and covering the road. It was pretty bad,” said Stanaland. “You worry it's going to cross the street and just keep rising and rising."
Further east on Highway 29 and County Road 366, streets and bridges were washed out. Williamson County officials said 10 homes along the river had to be evacuated.
“It is frightening for the families and friends who live here in the neighborhood,” said Ramos. “We all called each other. Everyone went to my house because I live on a level slightly higher, so we were safe there.”
Everyone from the RV park got out safely, though most lost all their belongings. Two shelters remain open: one in Georgetown, the other in Round Rock.
