CEDAR PARK -- Cedar Park Police return to the scene of a crash that killed two high school students last week and what happened is still a mystery.
Officers spent several hours on Parmer Lane using tools like a laser pointers, markers and spray paint. They were trying to recreate the crash, and measure the distance between points of debris.
On Jan. 10 a Vista Ridge High School couple, 17-year-old Taylar Lesser and 18-year-old Nathaniel Gomez, were driving north on Parmer Lane when they crossed over the median into oncoming traffic.
Both died at the scene when another car slammed into them. One person in the other car suffered serious injuries and another was treated and released. Police are still trying to determine why the teens crossed the road. It is not known if drugs or alcohol were involved.
Authorities needed several days to post signs and warn drivers that there may be some delays before recreating the crash. A week of time lapsed between the crash and the recreation.
The couple will be laid to rest in a joint funeral on Saturday, Jan.18.
