AUSTIN -- Though parts of Central Texas got some rain Monday night, the area is still facing a serious fire danger due it the drought. That's why the City of Austin is re-instating a fire ban in city parks.
Effective immediately, it's illegal to build a fire or to smoke in any Austin park, greenbelt or preserve. Wood and charcoal-fueled grills are also banned, though propane stoves are allowed in designated picnic areas.
People caught violating the ban could be fined $300 to $500.
