AUSTIN – The Whole Foods at The Domain is located just north of the Neiman Marcus store.

It boasts 63,000 square feet, which is about 20,000 shy of the Whole Foods headquarters in downtown Austin.

“I know this has been a highly anticipated opening for a very long time. I know the North Austin community is really looking for Whole Foods to grow and to continue to serve the community,” said Lindsay Mucha, the store director of the new Whole Foods.

Austin’s newest Whole Foods features a beer garden, a children’s play area, a Ramen station, and 11 seating stations.

“I think what's special about it is we're just really going to integrate ourselves into the North Austin community,” said Mucha.

One of the unique features is found towards the middle of the store. It’s a smoked oyster bar with plenty of drinks to wash them down.

“We're really excited about the Draft Shack, which is going to be featuring 45 beers on tap, [and] charbroiled oysters, which is a first for Whole Foods Market. We've never done that at any other store,” said Mucha.

Not far from the Domain, the Gateway Whole Foods will shut down temporarily on Jan. 12 for renovation. It’s expected to reopen in mid-February.

Whole Foods at The Domain is scheduled to open at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 15. However, the public can get a sneak peak on Jan. 13.

The cost for the sneak peak is $10, and a Whole Foods spokesperson said 100 percent of the money raised will benefit KUT Radio Austin.
