WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas – A new billboard campaign is coming to Williamson County, and the purpose is to help prevent suicides.
The Williamson County Mental Health Task Force unveiled two new billboards Wednesday for suicide prevention month.
The campaign “Be a Hero. Save a Life” displays the hotline number for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services (1-800-841-1255). Both signs were donated by Lamar Signs; vinyl for the billboards was provided by Bluebonnet Trails Community Services.
The signs are located at Highway 183 and Osage Drive, as well as Highway 79 just west of State Highway 130 between Round Rock and Hutto.
The billboard campsign is accompanied by a Twitter campaign called “Save the number. Save a life,” which encourages people to tweet the number to the National Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
Williamson County is hosting a suicide awareness ceremony called “Shine the Light on Hope,” Tuesday, September 10 at 8:30 a.m. on the south steps of the courthouse, located at 710 S. Main Street in Georgetown.
