AUSTIN -- Police have identified the man killed by a hit and run driver on MoPac Sunday night.
Around 8:30 p.m. Austin Police Department officers say a 24-year-old Nathanial Luke Newell attempted to cross the highway near U.S. 183. Officers say three drivers hit Newell. Two of the drivers stopped and tried to help; the third kept going. Newell died immediately.
Police are now searching for that third driver and are interviewing witnesses.
Police describe the vehicles involved as a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser, an unknown gray or white SUV and a 2010 Volkswagon Jetta.
