The parking lot of a gentleman's club near the Austin Bergstrom International Airport turned into a crime scene early Wednesday morning after a 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed.

APD officers say at 2:10 a.m. a 911 caller reported a large fight in the parking lot of the Landing Strip Men's Club on U.S. 183 near Highway 71 in Southeast Austin.

Officers say they found a large group of at least 10 or more people when they arrived. One of the men had been stabbed.

"Everybody was in shock. Especially his wife. She was over him and trying to you know make sure he's okay. She was in shock because he lost a lot of blood," said Charlie Brown, who went outside the club after hearing screams coming from the parking lot.

"At that moment it's just, something just goes through your mind. That could have been somebody you knew," added Erik Ramirez, "It turned out to be a friend of ours."

Austin/Travis County EMS transported the victim to University Medical Center Brackenridge. Police say he died from his stab wound at 2:58 a.m. The 23-year-old's name has not been released.

APD Homicide detectives interviewed multiple witnesses and gathered evidence in the parking lot after the stabbing.

Police have responded to the Landing Strip 33 times so far this year in response to 911 calls. Police responded to 50 calls there last year, and 55 in 2008.

Police say they are speaking with a person of interest, but have not made any arrests.

"He was a good friend. I know he was a family man. He was married. He had his wife and stuff like that," said Brown. "He was a real calm dude, you know? To me, I never seen him cause any problems or troubles or nothing like that. It was kinda sad to see what happened."

Officers have not said what led up to the fight.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the fight to call Crime Stoppers or 911.
