AUSTIN -- Austin police have charged a man with the death of his wife.

It happened Saturday Dec. 14 when police responded to a call from a residence in the 6000 block of Boxcar Run.

When officers arrived they found Elizabeth Garcia Tamez, 47, dead with apparent trauma to her body.

Elizabeth’s husband, Juan Jesus Tamez, 40, was also found on the scene. He collapsed shortly afterwards and was transported to South Austin Hospital, where he was admitted.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office ruled Elizabeth’s death as a homicide due to blunt force trauma and stab wounds. 
 
Juan has been charged with murder. His bond is set at $1 million.
