AUSTIN -- A group of Austin golf pros has set a world record. The record is for the most holes played by a four-ball in 24 hours.

They began Monday and wrapped up early Tuesday morning, playing 235 holes.

The golfers are Aaron Chilek of The Hills Country Club, Mike Sizemore of Barton Creek, Bryan Benner of the University of Texas Golf Club and First Tee Executive Director Jennifer MacCurrach.

The record attempt was also an opportunity to raise nearly $24,000.

The group broke the record around 12:30 a.m. July 2, about six hours shy of the 24 hours time period that was allowed.

The previous record of 234 holes played was set in Ontario, Canada five years ago.
