AUSTIN -- An Austin firefighter severely injured in a hit-and-run crash was moved to a rehabilitation facility Thursday.
According to a post on the Austin Fire Department's Facebook page Thursday evening, medical crews moved 33-year-old Colin Camp from the hospital to a rehab facility, where he was met by members of his crew who helped get him settled in.
He's still in a coma, but his other injuries are healing. Camp had been in the hospital since June 18 when police say a hit-and-run driver slammed into his bicycle. They say that driver, Stephen Murphy, admitted to taking sleeping pills two hours before the crash.
AFD says that during the next few weeks there are several benefits being planned to assist with the medical bills. Donations can be made at anytime to the Firefighters’ Relief and Outreach fund. Please specify that those funds are for Colin.
