AUSTIN -- Most of the Republic Square Park Farmer's Market regulars know all about where their food comes from, but some of the younger patrons don't have a clue.
"They don't care. They just eat whatever they have at the table and that's it," said mother of two, Liliana Torres.
Which is why Torres signed her two kids up for Creative Action's summer camp.
"This is the funnest camp I've ever been to," exclaimed 10-year-old Dylan Torres.
For two weeks about 100 kids from various Austin elementary schools learned the process of getting produce from the ground to the table.
"Many of the students that we work with eat mostly canned or frozen vegetables and some of the time they don't even know where vegetables really come from," said Creative Action Executive Director Karen LaShelle.
"I learned that more than one like food can grow under ground and, you know, like come out," said 9-year-old Mischa Torres.
The children ended their camp with a parade through the farmer's market dressed as the fruits, vegetables and seasons they learned about, in costumes they made themselves.
