AUSTIN -- An Austin dentist has been sentenced to five years in prison for possession of child pornography.
The sentence is part of a plea deal 64-year-old Michael Paul McCarty accepted in September.
McCarty was arrested back in March after police received a tip that he had uploaded images of child porn to an online forum. Later police seized more than 8,000 images from his home and dental office computers. None of the images were of his patients.
McCarty had a dental practice on North MoPac called Austin Smiles Dentistry.
