AUSTIN -- Fifteen of the 24 dogs the Austin Humane Society rescued from a Waco-area home earlier this week are now with their forever families.
The animals went up for adoption Saturday at noon. The shelter was busy with families checking out the puppies, some deciding to take them home.
Brooke Saenz adopted 3 month old Barney. She told KVUE she saw the animals on the news and felt compelled to help. "I thought 'Well I'll go in and see what I find, see if anyone finds me' and this little guy found me and were going home today. He's gonna have a great home and he's already ready to go."
The Humane Society rescued the dogs from an overwhelmed owner in the Waco area, last Monday. Workers say most of the puppies are in pretty good shape, despite the fact they'd likely never been to the veterinarian.
If you want to check out the nine remaining dogs you can stop by the Austin Humane Society at 124 West Anderson Lane from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
