AUSTIN -- After 16 years, the Austin Children's Museum has closed its doors -- but just for a few months.
The downtown museum will close for a short time as it prepares to move to a new, larger location in northeast Austin. The museum will go from 12,500 square feet at its current location to a new 40,000 square foot location called "The Thinkery." The museum raised over $18 million to build the new location.
The Thinkery will host exhibits focusing on education, science, technology, engineering, art and math.
The new museum will open in December at 1830 Simond Avenue in the Mueller Development.
