CEDAR PARK-- A local law enforcement coalition will be out in full force this Independence Day holiday to keep your family safe on the roads.

Arrive Alive Central Texas announced they will hold their next campaign from Wednesday July 3rd at 6 p.m. through Sunday July 7th at 6 a.m. Officers will look for aggressive, reckless and intoxicated drivers.

Arrive Alive was formed in February after an increase in accidents on Central Texas roads. Fifteen different organizations participate, but they have one goal: preventing accidents and saving lives.

Chief Sean Mannix of the Cedar Park Police Department explained why a collaboration of this kind is important.

"By working as a coalition, by spreading that blanket over the whole Central Texas area, to insure that wherever you go in Central Texas you really need to think about going there responsibly and again back to the slogan, arrive alive at your destination."

In Arrive Alive's first two initiatives (on Memorial Day and at the Republic of Texas Rally), officers gave out 3,731 hazardous citations, made 1,106 misdemeanor arrests and 31 felony driving while intoxicated arrests.

There were no deadly accidents.

Arrive Alive's next campaigns will be on Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
