An Austin church family and the community Tuesday prepared to say a final farewell to a missionary who died after being trapped in a luxury hotel in Haiti.
Clinton Rabb, 60, and his wife Suzanne visited the University United Methodist Church here in Austin just a few weeks ago.
Members say they were shocked to see video of Rabb, broadcast around the world, showing him pinned beneath tons of rubble after the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
Rabb was airlifted to a Florida hospital, where he later died.
The church offered to hold Rabb's funeral in its sanctuary -- Rabb's family agreed. Hundreds from across the country are expected to attend.
"Clint and his wife Suzanne have considered this church their home away from home if you will," said Music Director Mark Erck. "To know that he didn't make it after that footage was shot was a hard moment and the first thing I did was pray for the family."
A service for Reverend Rabb is scheduled for Saturday at noon at the University United Methodist Church on Guadalupe.
