AUSTIN -- Police are asking for help from witnesses who saw a hit-and-run crash on New Year's Day.

It happened on the frontage road of I-35 near 7th Street. Police say a group of people was walking north in the crosswalk at the intersection when a truck hit one of the female pedestrians.

A passenger got out of the truck to check on her, and the driver stayed in the vehicle. The passenger then got back into the truck and the pair drove off.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects' vehicle is a newer model Toyota Tacoma truck. It has four doors and is light-colored or silver.

If you witnessed this crash or have any information, you are asked to call APD at (512) 974-6935.
