AUSTIN -- The Austin Independent School District Police Department is mourning the loss of a retired K-9 officer.
An AISD spokesperson tells KVUE News Ofc. Buddy died after being admitted to the hospital for kidney failure five-days ago.
Ofc. Buddy started with the department in 2000 as the first K-9 officer for the district.
Buddy retired in 2012 after a long career helping to fight crime and even helping federal authorities capture drug cartel operatives in Austin.
