Monday is the launch of AAA's Teen Driver Safety Week.
Texas Governor Rick Perry signed a declaration encouraging parents of teen drivers to take the time to establish ground rules for safe driving.
According to a recent study by AAA and Seventeen Magazine, a majority of teens, nearly 9 in 10, admit to driving while distracted. Most of them say they knew doing so is dangerous.
"Like the Governor, we at AAA Texas know that proactive parents can make a difference in educating teen drivers about road safety," said Linda von Quintus of AAA Texas.
AAA Texas is reminding parents of the resources available to them including a new safety website, Keys2Drive, and a Parent-Teen Driving Agreement.
Teen Driver Safety week lasts from October 17-October 24.
