SAN ANTONIO -- Police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing-death of 24-year-old woman at O.P. Schnabel Park, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Christian Ivan Bautista, 29, was arrested around 7 a.m. Saturday by SAPD homicide. Police said he is facing a murder charge for the death of Lauren Bump.
Police had been interrogating Bautista as a possible suspect and arrested him after questioning.
"Great work and persistence by homicide, park police, Prue Rd patrol and SAFFE led to this arrest," SAPD spokesman Javier Salazar wrote in a press release.
According to SAPD, Bautista's listed address was less than four miles from the park where Bump's body was found by a couple on New Year's Eve.
The arrest came on the same day We Run San Antonio hosted a silent mile as a memorial tribute to the young woman.
Church services for Bump will be held on Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. at Community Bible Church. Bump will be laid to rest at a later date in a private ceremony.
A memorial fund has also been set up in Lauren Bump's. You can donate to the family by clicking here or sending a check to Frost Bank:
