CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A search warrant released Friday reveals for the first time, that the man police believe dismembered his live-in girlfriend had purchased several items at a local Walmart  just a week before her body was discovered.

The search warrant was obtained after neighbors called police about a foul odor coming from an SUV that had been parked for several days on Dove Tree Lane in Hidden Valley.

While processing the vehicle for evidence, police found luggage inside.

According to the warrant, “detectives located various parts of a dismembered human body in the black duffle bag and suitcase.”

The warrant indicates Lenin Turcios was the live-in boyfriend of the victim, Mara Garcia.

Turcios later committed suicide, investigators have said.

Also found in the SUV were items including a hatchet, a shovel, and motor oil. The warrant says the hatchet and motor oil were in a plastic bag from Walmart.

Investigators obtained surveillance pictures from the Walmart on North Tryon Street that they say shows Turcios purchasing those items early in the morning of September 29, about a week before the body was found.

A neighbor who lived near the couple said, “Wow, so he planned the whole thing out.  What are we living around?”

Another neighbor, Jeff McMurray said, “It is shocking. It’s disgusting.”

The warrant does not make any mention of a possible motive for the killing.
