Back in early June, Cheerios released a commercial featuring an interracial couple and their adorable daughter.
The company was forced to disable the comments on the YouTube video when they took a racist turn. Despite the outpouring of negative feedback, Cheerios parent company, General Mills, stood by the ad.
In a YouTube episode of a show called ‘Kids React,' the show’s creators present children with sensitive topics, such as racism, and discuss how it impacts individuals, families and the world at large.
The show’s creators say they “believe it’s important not to shy away from such topics when a video creates this type of controversy, and discuss them openly in hopes of a better tomorrow through dialogue and conversation.”
They also state that the opinions of the children on these issues can give “incredibly valuable insight into where our society really is and where we are headed as people.”
