SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio Police officials confirm an officer and another man were apparently shot in an incident late Friday evening.

According to SAPD, the officer was shot in the leg after a struggle for a gun in the front yard of a house in the 5100 block of Galahad Drive near Ray Bon Drive on San Antonio's northeast side.

The other man, a 31-year-old was killed.

San Antonio Police investigators told KENS 5's Dillon Collier the incident apparently began as a family disturbance call.  The 31-year-old man was reportedly arguing with his father

According to SAPD, Officers arrested the man and attempted to pat him down when he pulled out a gun.

Investigators said two officers and the suspect fought over the gun when the 31-year-old grabbed the weapon and fired several shots hitting one of the officers in the leg.

A third officer who was inside the residence came out and fired on the suspect, killing him.

KENS 5's Dillon Collier reported the injured officer appeared to be sitting up and alert in the back of an ambulance.  The officer was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

While his name wasn't released KENS 5 learned he is a 2-year veteran of the force.

Streets were reportedly closed off at the 5100 block of Galahad Drive near Walzem Road due to the investigation.
